I was SO INSPIRED by this talk with the same title by the founder of Patreon, Jack Conte. The link to the video is below:

When Youtube started out and created the "Subscribe button", it was a game changer. You now had the ability to reach millions with your art. Whether you wanted to sing, dance, make short films or just share fun things from your life, you had the ability to reach people.

What has changed over the years is how even if you have 10,000 followers, when you share a piece of content online, your words don't reach 10,000 people. It only reaches a small % of it.

So why is this relevant to you?

3 years ago, you could have been any professional OR a content creator.

In 2024, you can be any professional AND a content creator.

More and more people are coming into the content creation world.

Ever wondered why people do this?

❌ To become famous
❌ To make easy money
❌ To feed their ego

The reality is that:

✅ You attract new opportunities
✅ You expand your network of like-minded people
✅ You can help improve lives
✅ You strengthen your personal brand

So with the changing landscape, your focus should be split into two efforts:

1. Prospecting : Finding new eyes to see your brand. "Law of the Seven Degrees of Separation" states that any two people in the world are separated by at most seven connections connecting one person (acquaintance, friend, relative, or other) to another.
   So you never know HOW you would expose yourself to new opportunities. You have to allow yourself to put yourself out there so that people can find you.
2. Building Community : Building Community is basically building 1-on-1 relationships at scale. Have deeper conversations with multiple individuals who share a connection with you. ​
   As platforms gatekeep the people who follow you, it's best to explore other ways to reach them eactly like THIS newsletter that you are reading right now.
   A weekly resource sharing your insights, learnings, finding and more. You cannot imagine how powerful your perspective is and the impact it can have on someone.​
   So here's your reminder to not sleep on this opportunity...
